Our (informed) society

I frequently like to discuss current afairs, not because they are fun but because they belong to the history of our days. In some years from now I will be able to say that I lived all the world conflicts of the early XXI century and that fortunately I was informed enough to know what was happening and why. We are the lucky ones, young adults with access to all sources of information, not just from brain washed newspapers but also from citizens who are living these moments of history in real life and are able to share quotes, images and even videos with all of us, all around the world. When I am discussing certain situations with people as young as I and they do not have any clue of what I am talking about, is when I start to wonder what is wrong with our society. People do not care and do not want to be bothered to care. All of this conversation because of a simple click on the BBC website where I found the most popular articles shared on the Internet today: 

What the hell is wrong with people? Even the fact that Cyprus asked for bailout help from the EU is more important than all of this crap. 

The meaning of censorship

Thought of the day:
Is censorship already faded away in Western "democracies"? Can we express ourselves openly without any restrictions? Do we have the right to protest against our government? The answer is clearly no and we do not need to do a further research to understand why.

The trial of Anders Breivik ended in Norway today but the final verdict will just be announced in August. There is no question about the insanity of this man, he killed 77 people, most of them young teenagers. It is impossible for a man who acted this way to be psychologically normal. His psychological status is not important anymore, not for me and not for all the families who suffered their losses. He killed and there is no excuses to it. The case of Breivik is just one more proof that extremism, of all kinds, is a danger to the world of today. 

Mourinho 1 - 0 Zeiman

The new Roma coach reffered to José Mourinho, who is currently working in Real Madrid, as a "mediocre coach." Mourinho answered back to Zeiman's comments saying the following: 
“I didn’t know he was the Roma Coach and I’ll have to catch up on what he won. I’m on holiday at the moment, but I have some free time and I’ll look to inform myself with the help of Google."

News from Egypt

Mubarak is, according to different sources, "clinically dead." While he is in hospital thousands of Egyptians celebrate the begin of a "suppose" new era on the heart of the revolution, Tahir Square. According to early results, the candidate for the Muslim Brotherhood won the elections for president. But what does this mean? Can democracy be installed when the fingertips of the Mubarak regime are still alive? The answer is no. Democracy is big steps away from Egypt and the Mubarak era can now be entering a new beginning but in a different form.
